When your good playdates go bad!

I think it would be a good thing for Doraemon to get out of the Doraemon game business! I think it would be a good way to go. Here's why: ....

This morning Miss Kelsey, Mr. Bill and their furry children Kira, Lucy and German Herman came over to play with Mr. and Mrs. Doraemon and Belvedere. We all had fun until .... It was almost time to go home. Somehow, the crazy play between Freddie and Herman made Annabelle a little nervous. She jumped in to separate them, which put Herman and Annabelle against each other. Unfortunately, Annabelle gets testy and shows Herman what she can do. She ends up with a nasty gash on her pretty side. I sent them to the nearest emergency vet and she ended up needing 3 staples in one part of the bite. The other part was cleaned up and should heal on its own.

I still feel so guilty because there was nothing I could do to prevent it and when it happened, I was paralyzed, sitting on my butt on the floor, more concerned with taking pictures than looking closely at my dog.

To make matters worse, we ended up having another play date in the afternoon when Jen called to say she had mixed up the day's play date because she thought it was afternoon instead of morning. The Denafe Dabnor trio still had the afternoon off, so they headed to the Bronx for some fun. We had a total of six dogs, including Dylan, Freddie, Annabelle, Brownie, Mr. Belvedere (who spent the day with us) and our friend Beemer. All was well, except that Brownie felt the need to show Dylan who was boss (as he had done with Herman that morning) and Beemer had a crush on Mr. Belvedere. To make matters worse, Dylan became so infatuated with Lily, Uncle Bob's German Shepherd, that Lily, usually calm, became cranky.

The good news is that there was no bloodshed that afternoon, which was a great relief. I can only assume that a sunspot or full moon caused all this chaos!

Needless to say, it will be a while before we can schedule another play date - even though 90% of our time together was fun and enjoyable!!! Please help us send positive, therapeutic vibes in Herman's direction. He was a brave little boy in the comfort and safe embrace of his mother after the attack.
